What is a Map Tile?
Each map tile is a combination of photographic source material and hand-drawn artwork, with shadowing employed to give the illusion of depth. Each map tile also employs a standard scale that depicts each real-world inch as three on-screen pixels, providing us with a 5ft map grid square that measures 180 pixels in size.
To build an adventure map in Foundry, just create a blank scene and set the map grid scale to 180 pixels per 5ft segment. Then, using the Tile Browser, just drag and drop each map tile onto the digital canvas to build an adventure map, block by block. If using the in-app tool set is not your style, import the art assets into a graphics editoring App such as Photoshop, GIMP, or Clip Studio Paint. With a grid-based layout, creating adventure maps has never been more intuitive — piece together complex scenes as large or as compact as you like!
