PF2e Counteract Assistant
A quality of life module that automates counteract checks. What this module does is, it takes what feels like a very complicated rule and makes it much easier to run at the table. By that I’m referring to players and Gms often having to use visual guides like flowcharts just to remember how counteracting works and how to proceed after a check has been made. This hopefully streamlines that process enough that it becomes less tedious.
Requires: Wayfinder Core, socketlib.

Features:
-
Calculates outcome based on roll result and spell rank or item/ability rank
-
Displays what an item or ability’s rank based on creature’s level
-
Fetches the Caster’s DC or the DC of a creature’s ability.
-
Uses the Counteract Table as an internal reference point and figures out the outcome based on the roll result and a spell’s rank.
-
Adjusts success and failure results based on critical success and critical failure respectively
-
Supports appropriate feats and skill-based counteracting.
-
Removes effects from an actor when a counteract check succeeds (requires clicking the “Countering Effect?” box first).
Be aware that when you select an effect to be counteracted and the effect’s source is a spell, the spell’s level-based DC will be fetched, thus requiring you to click the "Fetch Highest Spell DC" icon to use the highest DC (usually the caster's).
How Does It Work?
Pressing Alt+C opens the Manual Counteract selector.
If a token is targeted, level and DC populate on their own. The GM can refine the DC, switch source and target types, and pick a specific effect or condition on the target. Calculate resolves the check against PF2e’s counteract rules and shows the degree of success alongside the rank comparison. Post Result sends the outcome to chat, and if an effect was selected and the check succeeded, removes it or reduces it by one stage.
Manual Counteract
Scans the selected token's actor, or your assigned character, and offers every counteract-capable source it finds:
- Spells.
cleanse-affliction,sound-body,extract-poison, pluslay-on-handswhen the actor also has the Mercy feat. Each is checked for usability, meaning slots and uses, before it's listed. - Feats.
dispelling-slice,clever-counterspell,dispelling-spellstrike,interweave-dispel,counterspell-prepared,counterspell-spontaneous,masters-counterspell,sin-counterspell. Dispelling Slice and Dispelling Spellstrike inherit the actor's highest spellcasting modifier. - Items.
dispelling-sliver,frost-brand,salve-of-antiparalysis. Their counteract modifier is parsed out of the item description text. - Skill actions. Skeptic's Defense (Intimidation), Treat Condition (Medicine), and Thievery, each listed with the actor's live skill modifier.
- Custom roll. A manual-modifier option for anything not covered.
Spell and skill sources roll through the PF2e system, so bonuses, penalties and traits apply on their own. Fixed-modifier item sources roll flat, and the UI says which you're getting.
