Augur: Sci-Fi

An Add-on Module by Augur Studios

Publisher: Augur Studios Purchase: Publisher Foundry Versions 13 to 14 (Verified 14) Last Updated 1 week ago

A sci-fi sector and star system generator for Foundry VTT. Generate full sector maps, star systems, orbiting planets, moons, asteroid belts, ships, factions, NPCs, journal-ready world dossiers, and explorable linked scenes.

Sector Map Generation:

Generate full hex-based sci-fi sectors, not just individual star systems. Choose the sector size, set system density, pick a cinematic space background, and create a campaign-scale region of space with linked systems already organized through Nexus.

Sector Editor and Display Options:

Edit generated sectors after creation. Change the background, adjust system labels, switch between main-world icons and star icons, toggle star-color halos, add systems to empty hexes, and control how the sector map is presented at the table.

Ships, Crews, and Factions:

Create ships, NPCs, and factions, then place them into your sci-fi scenes. Ships can use included models and color variants, NPCs can be generated with roles and personality prompts, and factions can be connected to the people, vessels, and worlds that define your campaign.

Relationship and Connection Tracking:

Drag NPCs onto ships as crew, link factions to planets, assign ships to organizations, or connect characters to the places they live and work. Connections are bidirectional, with editable labels on each side, so a faction can own a ship while the ship simply lists that faction as its owner.

Editable Orbits for Planets, Ships, and Sites:

Customize orbital paths directly on the canvas. Give planets eccentric orbits, place ships in motion, attach vessels to existing orbital paths, or make sites orbit as stations, wrecks, satellites, and other points of interest.

Nexus Placement Tools:

Drop ships, NPCs, factions, sites, and linked scene shortcuts into supported scenes, then move, rotate, scale, hide, reveal, or remove them as needed. This makes sector maps, system scenes, and world scenes work more like connected campaign boards inside Foundry.

System and World Preview Panels:

Click systems, planets, moons, labels, and suns to open cinematic preview panels. System previews show planets and moons in orbital order, while world previews show profile data, journal tools, scene links, moon navigation, and editing options in one place.

One-Click Star System Generation:

Pick a star type, set your planet count, and generate a complete sci-fi system in seconds. The module places the star with a dynamic light source, distributes planets across orbital bands, rolls their properties, adds moons and asteroid belts, and configures the scene automatically.

Planet Scenes and Moon Scenes:

Go beyond the system view. Generated worlds can lead into dedicated planet or moon scenes, creating a clear sense of scale as you move from sector map to star system to world-level exploration.

Site Generator and Site Maps:

Place points of interest directly on planet and moon scenes, generate dedicated journal pages for them, and open linked site maps when you want to zoom in further. This turns the module into a much more practical exploration and campaign-prep tool.

Instant Dungeons Integration:

Site maps can be generated through my other module Instant Dungeons, if you have it installed, letting you go from sector to star system to world to interior location in one connected workflow.

Custom Planet and Moon Images:

Use the included art or replace planets and moons with your own custom images. This was a highly requested addition and makes it much easier to match the exact look of your setting.

Live Orbital Animation:

Planets, moons, ships, and orbiting sites can move in real time. Animation runs locally for smooth performance, with periodic syncs from the GM to keep everyone aligned. You can adjust speed, change direction, create eccentric orbits, attach objects to existing paths, and fine-tune the orbital presentation of each system.

Procedural Planet Properties:

Each planet gets rolled stats based on its type and orbital band, including size, gravity, temperature, atmosphere, water coverage, resources, hazard level, and life. Habitable worlds feel distinct from frozen outer-system rocks and hostile extremes.

Journal Integration:

Create journal notes for planets, moons, and sites directly from their preview panels. Use Foundry's normal journal editor to add lore, descriptions, images, links, and campaign notes, while keeping those entries connected to the scenes and worlds they describe.

Star System Editor:

Edit generated systems after the fact instead of treating the first result as final. Swap skyboxes, adjust the star, change planet and moon types, add or remove moons, choose main worlds, and keep linked scenes updated.

Generator Conditioning:

Force a minimum number of habitable worlds or gas giants, or leave it on auto and let the tables decide. Useful when you need a system that fits a specific story or campaign premise.

Visuals and Scope:

Includes cinematic sector backgrounds, multiple skybox themes, five star types with variations, a wide selection of planet types, moons, asteroid belts, ships, NPC portraits, faction badges, linked scenes, world previews, and site-level exploration tools. It is completely system-agnostic, whether you are running Starfinder, Stars Without Number, Traveller, Mothership, or your own setting.
