Wayfinder Core

wayfinder-core · v1.0.0 · Foundry VTT v13+ (verified 13.351) · Free · System-agnostic (tested on PF2e 7.10.1 & D&D 5e 5.3.3)

Every Wayfinder module needs somewhere to put its settings, and every one of them needs to look like it belongs to the same family. Core is that somewhere. It carries the settings dashboard, the multi-theme engine, the scene-control registry, and the ApplicationV2 mixins the rest of the Wayfinder suite uses.

Install it once. Everything else you add from us plugs into the same panel and follows the same theme.

Dependencies: none. Core is the dependency. Every Wayfinder module except Wayfinder Premium Dice requires it.

Installation

Classic manifest install:

  1. In Foundry, open Add-on Modules → Install Module.
  2. Paste this into the Manifest URL field: https://wayfindermodules.com/releases/wayfinder-core/manifest
  3. Click Install.

Install Core first; the other Wayfinder modules won't load without it. Every module is listed at wayfindermodules.com.

What Core does at load

Core adds one window to Foundry's module settings: the Wayfinder Control Panel. Every Wayfinder module you install becomes a tab in it, with its settings and buttons grouped in one place.

Themes are global and live. Pick one from the Core tab and every open Wayfinder window restyles on the spot, no reload.

The Control Panel

One window with a sidebar of module tabs, reached through Foundry's Configure Settings or from any module that surfaces it. Tabs sort by display title instead of load order.

World-scoped settings are hidden from players, who see only client-scoped ones. Restricted menus are GM-only in the same way. One "Save Configuration" button writes every changed setting across every tab at once.

The Core tab also lists every Wayfinder module currently active and registered, with its id and version.

Themes

Eleven free themes ship with Core: Modern (stock Foundry), Wayfinder, Wayfinder Dark, Neon, Neon Red, Ice, Sanguine, Black & Gold, Midnight Run, Jade, and Dragonsblood.

You pick from a sliding strip of live previews. Each tile is a miniature window painted in that theme's own palette and lettered in its own display font.

Clicking a tile applies a theme. The strip is keyboard-navigable, scrollable, and Home and End jump to either end.

Choosing a theme applies it to every Wayfinder window immediately.

Scene controls

Core owns a dedicated scene-control group under a compass icon. It appears once at least one module registers a tool to it.

Core alone adds no tools. Several Wayfinder modules integrate purely through character sheets, token HUDs or keybindings, and a world running only those will see no compass icon at all.

Settings

Setting Scope Type Default Notes
globalTheme client String modern Active theme key. config: false, managed through the dashboard picker, not Foundry's settings list. Per-client, so each player picks their own.

The dashboard itself is registered as a settings menu (dashboard), icon fas fa-compass, unrestricted. Players can open it to reach their client-scoped settings.
