What's in this pack?

This bundle pack includes grid and gridless 40x30 maps with day, night, summer, winter, and animated variants. In the midst of a dark forest lies a small hamlet, the track branching off here and there, with small cottages leading up to larger buildings at the centre. As the treeline opens up to reveal this hamlet, the pale light from above brightens the view, but this is no place for lightness and joy. The cottages appear abandoned, no people milling around, no black smoke rising from the chimneys, a low mist snaking through the trees. What happened here?...

Encounter Hook

Treading cautiously into this hamlet in the woods, initially the party might see little sign of it being inhabited. But on closer inspection, bits and pieces of evidence begin to suggest a quite recent hasty evacuation. Movement might then be noted in some of the cottages. A glint of steel through one window, an octarine glow behind a tree. Is this an ambush? If so, is it for the party in particular, or is it for someone, or something, else that approaches from the other end of the hamlet?
