Open-World Megaregion

Hex exploration at unprecedented scale

Ember's megaregion is a hand-crafted open world of over 15,000 individually explorable hexes, each just one mile across. At this unique scale, your party may traverse ten or more hexes in a given adventuring day, each containing a fascinating discovery, a challenging encounter, or a concealed surprise. Thirty distinct biomes and over ninety unique locations await your discovery. The region is brought to life beneath day-and-night, seasonal, and lunar cycles as well as a dynamic weather system which collectively ensure that Ember is perpetually changing.

That's just the surface. Beneath the sun-baked overland world lies the Pathways - a vast underground network with its own biomes, locations, weather, and fog of war waiting to be lifted. Everything that makes Ember's surface extraordinary is waiting for you again below, shrouded in even deeper mystery.

Epic Branching Campaign

The world changes the story, you change the world

With over forty major questlines and hundreds of individual events, Ember's main campaign is an undertaking of monumental scale. Your characters will grow from level 1 to 12 across more than 200 sessions of play - enough to fill four years of weekly gaming. The full campaign is available for both D&D5e and Crucible, whether you prefer familiar rules or are craving something new.

Underpinning every gameplay moment is Ember's dynamic events engine, which ensures no two groups will experience the campaign in quite the same way. Choices carry real consequences as branching narrative paths open and close around you. Ember constantly surfaces new narrative possibilities as hundreds of randomized events react to the time of day, the season, and the state of the world. You are the architects of your own story, but Ember gives you a world worth fighting for.

Ember features a revolutionary dynamic audio engine that composes music in real time, weaving together individual instrument stems in sync with a global musical tempo so every transition lands on the beat. Hear the world shift in response to changes in location, time, seasonality, and weather. When the stakes grow perilous, the music turns from calm to tension, keeping you locked in the moment.

When battle commences, Ember packs over fifteen dynamically composed combat themes that engage automatically based on which adversaries you encounter. Environmental ambiance, weather, and sound effects layer alongside the music, immersing you in the sounds of a living world. The resulting score will amaze and surprise you, constantly evolving across an entire session and never repeating itself.

Dynamic Tokens

Win the fashion battle before a single die is rolled

Design your visually unique character token from the ground up, assembling thousands of individual illustrated parts - hair, head, torso, arms, legs, equipment and more - across all sixteen of Ember's custom ancestries. Fine-tune your appearance with complete control over body build, stance, and equipment, then dial in the exact look with precise color customization. Every token is brought to life with dynamic shadows and movement animations that change as you explore.

Gamemasters are equally empowered - humanoid monsters and NPCs in Ember are animated in the same way, with a built-in editor to customize the appearance of any adversary. Randomize an entire warband as you place each token on the battlefield so no two enemies will look alike.
