Token Layers
Token Layers stacks extra sprites on a token's normal artwork: a color wash, a ring, or an image. Foundry's own ring, bars, nameplate, and status icons stay where they are.
Layers live in two homes:
- Character layers follow the person. On a linked token they are stored on the actor, so a new token of that actor shows them in another scene. On an unlinked token they stay with that placed copy and do not stamp every other token of the same actor.
- This-token layers are stored on that one placed token and draw above the character stack. A fresh drag from the sidebar does not copy them.
Each layer has an ownership grid:
- None: hidden, and locked
- Observer: can see the layer, cannot edit it
- Owner: can see the layer and edit it
The GM always sees every layer. With Player Perspective viewing as a player, the GM client uses that player's grid.
