The module was created with the assistance of AI. It was used in the following ways:
- Comments and documentation
- Writing shader code
- Getting familiar with Foundry's API and its hooks.
Tile FX Painter is a module to animate static maps with the use of shaders. It works by creating a tile, selecting a shader and drawing a mask where the shader will appear. The tile sheet has a button added for opening a paint style editor that captures the scene background where the tile is and allows the user to draw a mask with the backgorund image as reference. It comes built-in with 7 different shaders to choose from that the user can customize by using different settings at their disposal.
Features
Mask Editor
Tile FX Painter comes built-in with a mask editor that captures the background image area where the tile is located. This allows the user to use a variety of tools to draw a mask where the shaders will be rendered. This gives the user precise control of the masked area and allows them to animate anything in the map from the smallest details all the way to the biggest features of a map.
Shaders
The effects are achieved with the use of shaders. The module offers a variety of shaders with more being planned for the future. The current selection of shaders is the following:
| Glow | A light with a soft halo. The halo can go past the tile frame. |
| Metallic | Brushed metal. The reflections move with time and with the camera. |
| Liquid | A dark liquid with a rainbow film, small ripples, and wet highlights. |
| Lava | Solid crust on molten rock, with hot veins. A soft light can go past the tile frame. |
| Water | Clear water with surface waves, light patterns on the bottom, and foam at the shore. |
| Frost | A sheet of ice with cracks, sparkles, and fog along the mask border. |
| Astral Void | A hole into space, with stars and color clouds. |
Each shader has unique settings that allow for great customization to fit your needs.
