Bring your Fog of War to life.
The standard Fog of War in Foundry VTT is functional, but visually very flat. Real Fog of War replaces that flat overlay with a volumetric fog effect. It transforms the “black void” areas into atmospheric mystery, making dungeons feel damper and forests more ominous.

How it Works
This module does not require complex setup. It simply adds a new option to your Scene Configuration. When enabled, the static fog is replaced by a shader that simulates fog.
- Dual-Color Depth: The module respects your scene's color settings. Areas that are totally Unexplored remain thick and opaque (using your Unexplored Color), while areas your players have already seen (Explored) fade into a lighter, lingering mist (using your Explored Color).
- Per-Scene Control: You can enable or disable the effect individually for each scene via a simple checkbox in the Lighting tab.
Recommended Setup (Best Practices)
For the most immersive results, this module is best paired with FOW Opacity (a module that allows you to adjust the alpha/transparency of the FOW).
- Without Opacity Control: The smoke looks great, but might be too dense over unexplored areas.
- With Opacity Control: By lowering the opacity of the fog slightly, you allow the map details to bleed through the shifting fog. This creates a true "dungeon mist" effect where players can see the terrain, but it remains covered in a thin layer of fog.
