Gravejaw Caverns [45x60] | 16 Variants
Gravejaw Cavern is a vast underground cavernous system that winds beneath the earth in long, shadowed passages. Rocky corridors twist through tight spaces and sudden open chambers, with dead ends that seem carved by time and indifference. A cold subterranean river splits the cavern in two, forcing adventurers to choose their route or find a way across. At the bottom of the map, high above the cavern floor, a natural entrance allows pale daylight to spill down the stone. At the top lies a tall archway of rock leading ever deeper into the forgotten depths. The map is designed to support exploration, combat, ambushes, and atmospheric dungeon delving.

I have wandered many tunnels in my years, yet few have made me feel so small as these caverns. The stone swallows sound here, as if the mountain itself is listening for intruders. Even my torchlight felt unwelcome, a lonely orange spark against an ocean of black that stretched beyond the reach of sight. The air was damp and tasted faintly of iron, like the breath of some sleeping creature. I remember thinking that if the dark wished to devour me, it would find little resistance.
The descent was treacherous. The cavern floor buckled and broke in strange places, and more than once I found myself pressed against a wall slick with cold moisture, listening to the faint roar of water somewhere below. When I finally reached the river, I felt as though I had crossed a boundary I was not meant to cross. The water cut the cavern cleanly in two, swift and dark, its surface reflecting the stone ceiling like a mirror of another world. Up above, far behind me, a distant slit of daylight glimmered faintly around the entrance ledge, already too far to offer comfort.
Ahead lay an arch of jagged rock, rising in a natural gate that drew the eye toward deeper blackness. It felt like an invitation and a warning in equal measure. Whatever carved this stone long ago, whether water or giants or something older still, left behind a realm that seems almost alive. I could feel the weight of the depths pressing on my breath.
