The road twists and bends between the altar of the Four-Winged Angel deep in Barrybone Woods and the small hamlet of Khleton. To foreigners, it is a curiosity. A path leading to nowhere, so far from everything, surrounded by so much poverty yet better maintained that most of the countryside’s roads. Locals though, know where it leads. They saw the Four-Winged Angel emerging from the woods and granting her miracles. They brought her their sick ones and their newborns, offered cattle and cakes, created a small religion and prostrated themselves in her honor. She was no celestial being though. Merely a potent Fae with a will to do good. She took the sacrifices and the profuse thanks with pride, caring little for the names they gave her. However, with the growing renown of this particular Fae, with the growing crowds coming to see her and ask for her favor, more and more creatures started prowling Barrybone Woods. The Unseelie Trail was no ordinary woodland path. It was at the border between the Material Plane and the Fairy Frontier. The predators lurking there were no ordinary wolves. When some give chase to a horseman, or a fast moving carriage, they might even reach our plane and decimate our villages. This is why tonight, you will stand guard on the Unseelie Trail. Until morning comes.
